From Anxious to Thriving aims to treat children and adolescents with anxiety disorders. Although children do not attend the sessions - they are the focus. When From Anxious to Thriving treatment is successful, children feel less anxious and function better following treatment.
Some of the main anxiety issues treated include:

Fears and phobias
Panic disorder and agoraphobia

Obsessive-compulsive disorder

FROM ANXIOUS TO THRIVING

From Anxious to Thriving is based on the SPACE program which was developed by Dr. Eli Lebowitz at the Yale Child Study Center and has been tested and found to be efficacious in randomized controlled clinical trials.
Parents who participate in SPACE learn skills and tools to help their child overcome anxiety, OCD or related problems in a supportive, friendly environment. Some parents report the normalisation and validation of their experience is a powerful impact of the group. It can be empowering to learn you're not alone!

The two main changes that parents learn to make in SPACE treatment are to respond more supportively to their anxious child and to reduce the accommodations they have been making to the child symptoms. The dual focus helps the child learn to face anxiety provoking situations and reduce the limitations anxiety has had on their life.

The program focuses on changes that parents can make to their own behavior, allowing them to be the agent of change in their child's and family's functioning.
